41 Marsh Edge Lane

41 Marsh Edge Ln is a 0.45 acre corner lot, located at the intersection of Marsh Edge Ln and Trumpet Creeper Ln, in the Airy Hall enclave.  It is the only undeveloped lot on the eastern end of Marsh Edge Ln.  The lot displays dense canopy cover and moderate to sparse vegetation density in the understory.  The canopy is dominated by loblolly pines, cabbage palmettos, and there are also a few large cedars – which make this property unique.  The understory is somewhat open throughout, with a few patches of more dense vegetation.  This may be a result of increased shading by the developed forest canopy.  The key plants in the understory at 41 Marsh Edge Ln are immature cabbage palms and wax myrtles.  There are also some vines located throughout the property.  There is considerable leaf litter (mostly pine needles) on the forest floor, and dead trees are minimal.  Although not pond edge, there is a pond (#61) located near the property (to its southeast) on the other side of a small forested buffer area adjacent to the property.  The property is located near the Kiawah River marsh, to its north (across Marsh Edge Ln).  There is a small area of green space across the street from 41 Marsh Edge Ln that connects to the marsh.  Elements that makes this property unique include, the nearby pond, proximity to marshlands, varying degrees of vegetation density in the understory (may provide habitat for several wildlife species), and presence of several large cedars.

This property was preserved in June 2006.
