227 Sea Marsh Drive
The property at 227 Sea Marsh Dr is located at the intersection of Sea Marsh Dr and Sea Myrtle Ct, in the northern region of the Sea Marsh enclave. A new property line was added at 229 Sea Marsh Dr, and this division created a new, undeveloped property that is .22 acres in area. The property is in very close proximity to marsh edge habitat along the Kiawah River. There is also a narrow, undeveloped buffer strip adjacent to 227 Sea Marsh Dr.
The lot displays moderate to dense canopy cover and varying vegetation density in the understory. The canopy is dominated by live oaks, loblolly pines, and cabbage palmettos. The understory is most dense in the property’s southwest corner. As you move across the lot toward the east (in the direction of the house), vegetation density in the understory appears to decrease, with some clear areas in the lot’s interior. Vegetation in the understory is comprised of wax myrtles, immature cabbage palmettos, red bay and a number of vines and other shrubs. There are also an array of grasses and ferns growing along the perimeter of the forested area of the property. There is a considerable amount of leaf litter in the lots interior. Because of the varying degree of vegetation density in the understory, as well as considerable canopy cover, the property likely provides useful habitat for a number of bird species.
This property was donated to the Kiawah Conservancy in November 2006.
